Vic Mensa Brings Cult-Classic Debut Mixtape 'INNANETAPE' to Streaming Services After 13 Years
Vic Mensa has officially released his 16-track 2013 debut project 'INNANETAPE' across major digital streaming platforms. Distributed via UnitedMasters and Oranj Sound, the reissue is accompanied by an upcoming four-city tour and an online digital archive.

Thirteen years after its original release in 2013, Chicago rapper Vic Mensa has officially made his acclaimed debut project, 'INNANETAPE,' available on major digital streaming platforms for the first time. According to reporting by Complex, the 16-track mixtape landed on streaming services via a distribution deal between UnitedMasters and Mensa's label, Oranj Sound. Mensa originally recorded the project when he was 19 years old, shortly after leaving the Chicago-based band Kids These Days.
The mixtape stood out for its genre-bending sound, merging elements of hip-hop, jazz, soul, alternative, and electronic textures anchored by live instrumentation. As reported by Complex, the tape boasts collaborations with a star-studded lineup of guest artists, including Chance the Rapper, Ab-Soul, BJ The Chicago Kid, Rockie Fresh, Thundercat, and Joey Purp. The project also features production work from acclaimed producers Boi-1da, Hit-Boy, DJ Dahi, and Michael Uzowuru. The DSP release satisfies a decade-long demand from fans eager to access the seminal project on modern music platforms.
Addressing the long-awaited milestone, Mensa noted the constant requests he received from listeners over the years. 'I don't think a week has passed in the last 5 years when i didn't receive someone asking me to put the innanetape on streaming platforms,' Mensa wrote on X, according to Complex. To celebrate the milestone reissue, Mensa is embarking on a specialized four-city concert series known as the INNANETOUR. Intended for intimate venues, the tour kicks off October 12 at Village Underground in London, followed by a show on October 24 at the Blue Note in Los Angeles.
Mensa will play Garcia's in Chicago on October 28 before concluding the tour on November 10 at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York, where he and his band will perform two separate sets. In addition to the concert dates, the reissue is accompanied by a new digital archive designed to host merchandise, tour updates, exclusive digital content, and special releases tied to the era. Mensa has also released a companion episode of The Vic Mensa Show titled 'INNANETAPE: Thirteen Years of Loading.' According to Complex, the episode breaks down the project's development in detailed chapters, covering the breakup of Kids These Days, the story behind the cover artwork, and the rationale behind the mixtape's signature aesthetic.
