Toronto Tempo Battle Injuries as Fever Stars Preview What's Next
The Toronto Tempo took on Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell's Indiana Fever while missing several key players to season-ending injuries. Coach Sandy Brondello said the expansion team is using its final games to evaluate pieces heading into 2027.
The Toronto Tempo were shorthanded Friday night as they hosted the Indiana Fever, missing Marina Mabrey, Brittney Sykes and Aneesah Morrow for the season, along with Maria Conde due to illness, according to Sportsnet. The Fever pulled away for a 103-85 win.
"I think it reminds me a lot of us a year ago," Fever coach Stephanie White said before the game, recalling her own team's injury-plagued stretch last season.
Tempo coach Sandy Brondello said the season is now about development. "We like the pieces, we just haven't seen them all together," she said. "We're getting to evaluate them well and that certainly helps us as we lead into 2027."
