Taral Hicks, known for her memorable roles in 1990s Black cinema, is drawing widespread admiration online following a major health milestone. According to reporting by Atlanta Black Star, the 52-year-old actress and singer recently shared that she successfully lost 35 pounds, moving from 189 pounds down to 154 pounds. Hicks outlined her journey in an Instagram post, emphasizing that her results were achieved through standard lifestyle choices rather than quick fixes or crash diets.

In her post, reported by Atlanta Black Star, Hicks wrote that 52 feels like 32 again, attributing her progress to prayer, nutrition, consistency, and showing up for herself repeatedly. To accomplish her goals, Hicks followed a workout schedule three days a week that prioritized progressive strength training, according to Atlanta Black Star. Her nutrition strategy centered on portion control and proper fueling, while also adapting her routine to changes that accompany entering her 50s and navigating menopause.

Hicks credited a support team of fitness coaches for guiding her progress, including BodyByShy, FitKing Plem, and LVL Up Fitness Studio. Trainer Shy Lovell of BodyByShy praised Hicks in a September 30 Facebook post, writing that she was proud of her client for prioritizing health and trusting her guidance. Lovell also joked that they would be calling her Keisha NO Belly moving forward, referencing her iconic movie character. Hicks made her movie debut in the 1993 film A Bronx Tale and later starred in Just Cause and The Preacher's Wife.

She achieved iconic status in hip-hop cinema playing Keisha, the girlfriend of Tommy Buns played by DMX, in the 1998 movie Belly. Over her career, she also released her Motown music album This Time in 1997 and appeared in projects such as The Salon, Forbidden Fruits, King of Newark, Gaslight, A Father's Pride, and Tyler Perry's stage play Aunt Bam's Place. Fans and observers responded enthusiastically when media outlets like Hollywood Unlocked highlighted her photos.

According to Atlanta Black Star, social media users commended Hicks for her hard work, with supporters noting her long-standing legacy as a representation of brown-skinned beauty in Black entertainment. Atlanta Black Star also noted that Hicks' enduring presence reminds fans of her cultural impact, which previously re-emerged in 2017 when comments by former NBA player Gilbert Arenas sparked public debate regarding colorism after he listed Hicks, Gabrielle Union, Keshia Knight Pulliam, and Serena Williams in a social media discussion.

Looking ahead, Hicks remains active in the entertainment industry. Her upcoming film projects listed on her IMDb page include Friends of Rome, A sista Holiday, and Someone Loves You, according to reporting by Atlanta Black Star.
