Across the country, HBCU campus visits are doing what no recruiter, brochure, or college fair has been able to do at scale — convincing a new generation of Black students that an HBCU is the answer.
From Howard's yardfest to Spelman convocation to a Florida Classic tailgate, prospective students are leaving these visits transformed. "I didn't know college could feel like this," one rising senior told us after visiting Hampton. "Everybody looked like me. Everybody was excited to be there."
College counselors are taking note. Application data shows that students who visit at least one HBCU before senior year are dramatically more likely to apply — and enroll. The visit pipeline is quietly reshaping the future of Black higher education.
