Stephen A. Smith confirmed he met with Donald Trump for a four-hour White House dinner alongside Bill Maher and Kid Rock. Smith stated that he pressed Trump on crucial topics impacting the Black community, including funding for HBCUs, DEI programs, and unemployment rates among Black women.

Broadcaster and commentator Stephen A. Smith confirmed that he met with Donald Trump for a four-hour dinner at the White House, where he raised several key issues impacting the Black community, according to reporting by Hollywood Unlocked. Smith, who identifies as a political Independent, addressed the meeting publicly following comments made by Trump regarding their get-together.
According to Hollywood Unlocked, Trump initially revealed on Friday, October 16, that he had shared a dinner with the media personality. When asked about the gathering, Trump stated that the get-together was "great." Following those public remarks, Smith opened up about the extended exchange during an appearance on Fox News as well as on his SiriusXM radio show, "Straight Shooter."
Hollywood Unlocked reported that Smith was invited to the gathering by television host Bill Maher, and the two were joined at the dinner table by musician Kid Rock. Over the course of the four hours spent at the White House, Smith explained that he made an intentional effort to address challenges facing the Black community directly. Smith stated, "My mission is always to look out for my community as best as I can."
Central to Smith's questions was the current administration and political climate surrounding diversity programs. According to Hollywood Unlocked, Smith said he pressed Trump directly about the potential elimination of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, as well as broader concerns regarding federal jobs being minimized.
Smith further noted that he pressed Trump specifically regarding the economic landscape for Black women, directly questioning him on the unemployment rate among Black women. Alongside labor concerns, Smith stated that he challenged Trump on the topic of funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), keeping collegiate support in the spotlight during the conversation.
Hollywood Unlocked reported that the conversation also expanded into foreign policy matters and the broader American economy. Smith stated that the group talked about global politics, including the war in Iran, alongside domestic financial concerns such as the national debt. When addressing the national debt, Smith alleged that Trump promised the economic concern would be handled, claiming that "trillions [of dollars] are coming into America."
The four-hour meeting brought together media personalities and Trump for an extensive dialogue on domestic policy and foreign affairs. While Trump maintained that the gathering was "great," Smith emphasized across his media platforms that his participation was driven by a commitment to question leadership on crucial community matters. Kulture Newz has not independently confirmed further specifics of the exchange between the attendees.
