Washington Commanders wide receiver Stefon Diggs has submitted new court documents defending his previous public statements and rejecting allegations of misconduct leveled against him by Christopher Griffith, according to reporting from TMZ. The legal filing represents the latest development in an ongoing dispute between the NFL star and Griffith, who previously accused Diggs of sexual assault and retaliation.

According to TMZ, the conflict stems from an incident alleged to have occurred in May 2023. Griffith claimed that he was friends with Diggs and was flown out to the athlete's Maryland residence to attend a celebrity basketball game. In his legal claims, Griffith alleged that Diggs drugged him and made unwanted advances toward him despite verbal objections. Griffith further claimed that associates of Diggs physically assaulted him approximately one week later as retaliation for refusing the advances.

Diggs has adamantly denied each of those claims in legal filings, as reported by TMZ. The wide receiver asserted that he never made sexual advances toward Griffith, never drugged him, and did not direct any associates or acquaintances to carry out an attack. Instead, Diggs claimed that Griffith attempted to steal clothing items from his residence, an action that Diggs stated led directly to cutting off their personal friendship.

The dispute initially moved into the legal system when Diggs filed a lawsuit against Griffith. In that complaint, Diggs alleged that Griffith had caused significant damage to his professional reputation by circulating false claims about him. In response, Griffith submitted counterclaims against the football player, arguing that Diggs engaged in unlawful defamation through a public social media post.

According to court records cited by TMZ, Griffith pointed to an online statement posted by Diggs that read, "Lying on my name because he got caught stealing." Griffith also cited additional language from the post in which Diggs wrote, "At the end when I prove this n**** a liar and a bitch ass n****, then what?" Griffith argued that the widely distributed comments subjected him to public harm and amounted to actionable defamation.

In his newest filing, Diggs formally pushed back against Griffith's counterclaims by maintaining that truth serves as a complete defense. According to TMZ, Diggs argued in the filing that his published statements were accurate and that he cannot be held civilly liable for speaking the truth about the situation. The legal documentation maintains Diggs's complete denial of any wrongdoing while pressing forward with his defense in the civil matter.
