Gaming peripherals manufacturer SteelSeries has entered the high-end gamepad market with the release of the Aeon Pro, a $260 controller built specifically for Xbox and PC players, according to a product review published by HipHopWired. The hardware release directly targets recurring complaints that have historically affected standard Xbox gamepads, particularly analog stick drift and stuck trigger mechanisms. As reported by Bernard Smalls for HipHopWired, the device seeks to eliminate those persistent performance headaches through an array of premium internal components and customizable hardware solutions.

Central to the device is the use of Hall-effect sensors within both thumbsticks, a technology designed to prevent mechanical wear and tear that typically triggers stick drift over prolonged competitive play. The controller also implements two-stage Hall-effect sensors inside the left and right triggers, accompanied by tactile switch connections and four programmable paddle buttons resting on the back panel. According to the HipHopWired review, the unit features an audible short-throw tactile click across its buttons, bumpers, D-pad, and triggers, while sporting a modular thumbstick system and a textured wrap-around grip intended to keep players secure during marathon gaming bouts.

Beyond mechanical durability, the Aeon Pro introduces an active solution to mid-match power depletion by utilizing what SteelSeries describes as infinite battery technology. As documented by HipHopWired, the system mirrors the approach used in SteelSeries premium audio lines, providing dual rechargeable battery packs so users can swap a depleted battery for a freshly charged unit housed in an accompanying desktop dock. The included charging station features dedicated dual USB-C ports on the rear to enable quick switching between an Xbox console and a PC rig, supplemented by onboard Bluetooth pairing directly through the pad itself.

The controller also embeds an integrated OLED Smart Display on its face, allowing users to immediately identify which operational profile or mode is currently active without relying strictly on external monitor overlays. Smalls noted in the HipHopWired report that before testing the Aeon Pro, the Razer Wolverine V2 Chroma had served as his primary pad since 2021, but the new peripheral has taken over that spot due to its swappable power design and robust Hall-effect architecture. SteelSeries currently lists the Aeon Pro for purchase directly through its official website.
