From dorm-room startups to seven-figure raises — the AUC is becoming a founder factory.
Walk through the Atlanta University Center on any given afternoon and you'll find pitch decks, demo days, and dorm-room startups in every direction. Spelman and Morehouse students are quietly building the next wave of Black tech — and investors are starting to pay attention.
Several student-led startups out of the AUC have raised six- and seven-figure rounds in the past year, spanning fintech, edtech, healthcare, and creator tools. Programs like Morehouse's entrepreneurship center and Spelman's innovation lab are providing real infrastructure: capital, mentorship, and access to networks that historically gatekept Black founders.
The AUC is becoming a founder factory. The next billion-dollar Black-owned company may very well be incubated there.
