Nahla Aubry Defends Mother Halle Berry in Court Declaration Amid Custody Dispute
Nahla Aubry, the 18-year-old daughter of Halle Berry, has filed a legal declaration in Los Angeles Superior Court defending her mother amid an ongoing custody dispute with Olivier Martinez. Aubry stated she has never witnessed Berry physically abuse her younger brother, Maceo, describing her mother as a loving and devoted parent.

In official legal declarations submitted to Los Angeles Superior Court, Nahla Aubry, the 18-year-old daughter of Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry, has formally spoken out in defense of her mother amid a custody dispute involving Berry and her former husband, Olivier Martinez. According to details from court filings reported by theGrio, Aubry filed a statement confirming that she has never witnessed her mother engage in violent behavior toward anyone, nor has she observed any physical abuse directed at her 13-year-old brother, Maceo.
Describing Berry as a warm, supportive, and deeply devoted parent who is actively engaged in her children's daily upbringing, Aubry offered firsthand perspective on their household environment. Having lived under the same roof with Maceo for the vast majority of his life, Aubry stated in her court declaration that she has never seen Berry strike, slap, choke, grab, or physically mistreat him at any point. Instead, she shared that she frequently witnessed positive, affectionate interactions and lighthearted wrestling between Berry and Maceo, noting that her brother never appeared hurt, threatened, or distressed following these moments.
Aubry revealed in her court filing that she felt shocked, very sad, and very upset after learning about the allegations leveled against her mother. Furthermore, Aubry stated that Berry has actively encouraged both of her children to foster and maintain strong relationships with their fathers, adding that Berry has never spoken in a negative manner about either father in front of the children, according to court documents cited by theGrio.
The custody conflict intensified after Martinez petitioned the court for sole custody of Maceo. In his legal filings, Martinez alleged that Berry physically abused their son during an incident occurring on Sept. 26, claiming that Berry placed her hands around the boy's neck and choked him. Martinez has maintained in court filings that his legal actions are taken out of direct concern for his son's physical health, overall safety, and personal welfare.
Berry has publicly and legally denied all allegations of abuse. As reported by People and referenced in court coverage by theGrio, Berry's legal team characterized Martinez's petition as entirely meritless and deliberately misleading. Berry has formally petitioned the court to reinstate the previous 50/50 joint custody arrangement that was previously established between the former couple. At present, a judge has put in place temporary restrictions regarding Berry's designated parenting time with Maceo.
The court filings clarify that these temporary restrictions do not constitute a final judicial determination regarding the validity of the allegations. Los Angeles Superior Court has slated an official follow-up hearing for Oct. 16, where the court is expected to further address the custody terms and review the submissions from both legal teams.
