Morgan State University's football team improved to a 5-1 record following a 28-27 homecoming win against Robert Morris. Senior running back Keith Jenkins Jr. scored the decisive touchdown with 24 seconds remaining, capping an 11-play drive. The victory marks the program's best start to a season in nearly two decades as conference play approaches.

The Morgan State University football team continued its remarkable start to the season on Saturday afternoon, securing a dramatic 28-27 homecoming victory over Robert Morris at Hughes Stadium in Baltimore. According to reporting from HBCU Gameday, senior running back Keith Jenkins Jr. scored the game-winning touchdown on a one-yard leap with just 24 seconds remaining, capping off an 11-play, 75-yard drive.
The victory improved the Bears to a 5-1 overall record, marking the program's best six-game start since 2009 and extending their current winning streak to four games. The thrilling finish comes just one week after quarterback Cameron Edge scored a touchdown with 36 seconds remaining to lift Morgan State to a 38-35 victory against Villanova, as noted by HBCU Gameday.
Against Robert Morris, Morgan State fell behind early as the visiting Colonials built a 14-0 advantage before the Bears began to chip away at the lead. Robert Morris held a 14-3 advantage at halftime, but Morgan State responded by outscoring the Colonials 18-7 in the third quarter. A 56-yard touchdown pass from Edge to receiver Joseph Towler sparked the turnaround, followed by a 45-yard touchdown run from Jenkins. A successful two-point conversion subsequently tied the game at 21.
Robert Morris reclaimed the lead in the fourth quarter, taking a 27-21 advantage with 4:16 left on the clock. Edge then guided the Bears on their decisive final drive, ending with Jenkins' short touchdown plunge. Kicker Gavin Fetty converted the extra point to give Morgan State the lead. The Bears secured the victory on defense when Donovan Moyer forced a fumble on a sack, which was recovered by Jordan Jeudy, according to HBCU Gameday.
"I just want to win. So whatever it takes to win," Morgan State head coach Damon Wilson stated after the game, according to HBCU Gameday. Wilson, who previously established a winning program at Bowie State, praised his squad's resilience. "But the one thing that I know in life, when you're faced with adversity, your true character comes out, and I think we've been facing adversity a number of times this year, and our true character came out. That says a lot."
Statistically, Jenkins produced 98 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries while adding five receptions for 47 yards, HBCU Gameday reported. Edge finished 18 of 29 passing for 181 yards and a touchdown, alongside 61 yards on the ground. Morgan State amassed 369 total yards of offense, including 188 yards rushing.
The victory comes at a pivotal moment as Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play approaches. HBCU Gameday noted that defending conference champion South Carolina State dropped a 49-39 decision to Charleston Southern on Saturday, while Delaware State has also shown signs of growth, reshaping the MEAC picture. Morgan State has not won an outright MEAC football title since 1979, when the program competed at the NCAA Division II level.
