Morgan State Marching Band Joins 'Hamilton' Cast for NFL Sunday Night 9/11 Tribute
Morgan State University's Magnificent Marching Machine performed alongside the Broadway cast of "Hamilton," including creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, during halftime of the Giants-Cowboys Sunday Night Football game. The tribute marked the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks at MetLife Stadium.
The 150-member HBCU band shared the field with Penn State's Blue Band and Hamilton cast members Nicholas Christopher, Mandy Gonzalez and soloist Jaheim Lee, according to CBS Baltimore. Musical arrangements were created by Tony-winning composer Alex Lacamoire and Don P. Roberts, a consultant on Drumline Live.
Miranda thanked Morgan State directly, saying, "Thank you for doing impossible things."
The performance was the NFL's first halftime show built around a Broadway production, per the report.
