NFL Network analyst Michael Robinson is facing significant scrutiny after questioning the circumstances surrounding Jalen Hurts' injury status during an appearance on "NFL Gameday Kickoff," according to reporting from Hollywood Unlocked.

During Thursday's broadcast, the former Pro Bowl fullback raised questions regarding the Philadelphia Eagles' future plans at quarterback and floated the theory that the organization might leverage Hurts' current physical condition to pivot in another direction down the line. Pointing to draft capital acquired by the franchise, Robinson noted that Philadelphia possesses a stockpile of 2027 and 2028 draft selections acquired via recent roster trades.

Hollywood Unlocked reported that despite Hurts leading the team across a seven-year tenure that includes three Pro Bowl selections, the quarterback has faced early challenges adjusting to new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. Hurts signed a long-term contract structured through the 2028 campaign, yet Robinson openly suggested that both the organization and the passer could be managing appearances amid a difficult season.

Robinson argued on the broadcast that team leadership appeared to be laying responsibility for early stumbles on Hurts to create justification for an eventual roster change. Robinson further asserted that playing devil's advocate led him to wonder if Hurts or his camp had opted to step away from game action to prevent the difficult stretch from damaging his individual standing, Hollywood Unlocked detailed.

Those public assertions drew immediate criticism, particularly given the medical reality of Hurts' diagnosed health issue. The 28-year-old quarterback was sidelined after developing a superficial blood clot in his calf, a condition the Eagles organization had been monitoring since an Oct. 4 defeat against the Los Angeles Rams that ended 24-20.

According to Hollywood Unlocked, the Eagles franchise has maintained complete legitimacy regarding the medical diagnosis, and no team official or internal source has questioned the severity of the injury. Medical specialists have outlined that addressing a superficial blood clot could require a recovery window lasting 45 days or longer, subject to ongoing medical evaluation.

In remarks originally shared with USA Today Sports and cited by Hollywood Unlocked, University of Michigan Medical School associate professor and hematologist Dr. Jordan Schaefer explained that patient recovery from blood clots requires ongoing, long-term monitoring rather than a single clinical evaluation, with physicians assessing physical changes such as leg swelling and redness over time.

With Hurts undergoing medical treatment and recovery, Philadelphia is turning to Tanner McKee under center, according to Hollywood Unlocked. Rookie Cole Payton is in position to serve in a backup capacity, while the franchise bolstered its depth on Friday by signing quarterback Joe Milton off the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad.
