Mamadi Diakite Chases Stability With Dubai Basketball After NBA Journey
Guinea native Mamadi Diakite, the only player to win an NCAA title, G League title and NBA championship, has joined Dubai Basketball ahead of the EuroLeague SuperCup. He hopes the move offers long-term stability.
Mamadi Diakite, a Guinea native who left home at 15 to play basketball in the U.S., has joined Dubai Basketball alongside signings like Tornike Shengelia and coach Xavi Pascual, according to The National. Diakite is the only player in history to win an NCAA title, a G League title and an NBA championship.
Diakite won a national title at Virginia, made his NBA debut with the Milwaukee Bucks as an undrafted free agent in 2020, and later played in Spain's ACB league. "You might not be in that kind of same position ever again," Diakite said. "So, it might be your last shot."
Having relocated with his wife and son, Diakite said he hopes Dubai will provide long-term stability.
