Charles D. King's Macro Acquires Black-Focused Streamer AllBlk From AMC
Charles D. King's Black-owned media company Macro is acquiring streaming service AllBlk from AMC Global Media, marking its entry into direct-to-consumer streaming. The platform, launched in 2014 by BET founder Robert L. Johnson, will remain independent under Macro's ownership.

Macro, the Black-owned media company founded by Charles D. King, is acquiring the streaming service AllBlk from AMC Global Media, according to Deadline. AllBlk, which targets Black viewers, launched in 2014 as UMC (Urban Movie Classics) by businessman and BET founder Robert L. Johnson before AMC acquired his RLJ Entertainment in 2018.
The deal's announcement said the ownership transition would be seamless, with AllBlk continuing to operate independently and support its existing content library and original series such as G.R.I.T.S. and Jupiter Jones. Macro said it plans to invest in original programming and integrate the streamer into its broader studio operations.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Macro, launched in 2015 with a mission to represent Black, Indigenous and people of color audiences, has produced films including Judas and the Black Messiah and Fences, per Deadline.
