Lil Durk has reportedly been placed in solitary confinement at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles while he awaits an upcoming federal racketeering trial, according to reporting from TMZ.

Jose Rojas, a union secretary for the Bureau of Prisons, indicated that the rapper was moved into the facility's Special Housing Unit on Friday, Oct. 30. Sources cited in the reporting stated that prison staff have subjected his cell to frequent searches, though no unauthorized contraband has been discovered following his recent legal acquittal.

Durk was reportedly sent to solitary confinement after allegedly talking back to the facility's deputy warden during an exchange regarding the repeated searches of his quarters. When reached regarding the disciplinary status, the Federal Bureau of Prisons declined to corroborate the transfer to the special housing unit. In an official statement, the agency noted, "For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not discuss the conditions of confinement for any individual in our custody, including housing assignments, potential disciplinary infractions, or internal security measures."

The reported housing change occurs as Durk remains in federal custody facing separate racketeering allegations. As reported by The Shade Room, federal prosecutors allege that the artist headed an alleged criminal syndicate identified as the Banks Gang Enterprise. Durk was previously acquitted of all charges in a federal murder-for-hire trial connected to Tyquian Bowman, the recording artist known professionally as Quando Rondo. Bowman's cousin, Saviay'a Robinson, was fatally shot during an August 2022 confrontation at a gas station near the Beverly Center in Los Angeles. While the government alleged Durk orchestrated the fatal assault and that affiliated individuals executed it, Durk was acquitted of all charges in that proceeding.

In July 2026, prosecutors added a violent crimes in aid of racketeering activity charge, known as a VICAR charge, to the legal matter. That murder-in-aid-of-racketeering count was severed from the original murder-for-hire trial to be handled during a separate legal proceeding. Federal prosecutors maintain that Durk led the Banks Gang Enterprise and plan to present evidence spanning multiple violent occurrences over past years, arguing that co-defendants participated in the 2022 shooting to preserve or elevate their roles within the organization. Attorneys representing Durk are scheduled to appear in court on November 4 to seek bond on his behalf.

The rapper's racketeering trial was previously delayed after his defense counsel filed for a continuance on Wednesday, September 30, which the presiding judge approved. According to reporting from LA Magazine, the federal trial has been rescheduled for August 30, 2027. In the ruling granting the motion, the court determined that the complexity of the conspiracy prosecution, the volume of discovery materials, and the number of defendants justified extending the trial date beyond the initial October 2026 timeline.
