Two suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the killing of Christina Downer, according to an announcement from the Los Angeles Police Department reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Downer was the sister of television writer Jimmy Fowlie.

Authorities arrested Downer’s boyfriend, identified by police as Delorean Bijon Brandon, alongside Kaylee Nicole Markowski on Thursday. The arrests follow a multi-month inquiry that began when Downer was initially reported missing late last year.

According to an official police statement cited by The Hollywood Reporter, Downer was reported missing on December 18, 2025, after her former husband requested a welfare check due to an extended lack of contact. At the time of the initial inquiry, Brandon claimed to law enforcement that Downer had relocated months prior, leaving her belongings, vehicle, and dog behind.

The case shifted significantly when Downer's mobile phone was discovered washed ashore at Santa Monica Beach, prompting the LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division to take over the investigation. According to police statements, investigators used various investigative methods to link Brandon and Markowski to Downer’s killing, the disposal of her remains, and the active concealment of their alleged involvement.

Downer's brother, Jimmy Fowlie, had publicly sought information regarding her whereabouts shortly after her disappearance, posting online pleas in December 2025. In April, Fowlie shared that law enforcement had formally notified his family that Downer was deceased and that the matter had become a homicide inquiry.

In his public statements at the time, Fowlie indicated that he believed his sister's digital devices and social media accounts had been hijacked prior to her disappearance. He noted that unauthorized parties appeared to use her communications to solicit money and fabricate an explanation that she had intentionally disconnected from her life.

The Los Angeles Police Department indicated that the Robbery-Homicide Division plans to present the findings of the ongoing investigation to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for formal charging consideration.
