During a recent episode of Hulu's reality series The Kardashians, Kourtney Kardashian shared insight into the personal advice she once received from hip-hop artist and producer Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. According to a report by Billboard, Kardashian discussed the musician's faith-based guidance while talking about romantic boundaries with her stepson, Landon Barker.

In the episode, Kardashian encouraged the younger Barker to exercise patience and consider waiting until marriage before becoming physically intimate with a partner. When a series producer asked the Lemme founder if she had adhered to that practice herself prior to marrying Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, Kardashian admitted that she had not, but noted that Ye had specifically pushed her toward that standard.

"No," Kardashian answered, according to Billboard. "But I remember Kanye told me, 'I feel like God is calling me to tell you that you should not hook up with any randoms until you are with your husband.'"

Ye was Kardashian’s brother-in-law for eight years, having married her sister Kim Kardashian in 2014 before the couple separated in 2021 and finalized their divorce in 2022. During his years as a member of the extended family circle, the rapper was present through several major relationship milestones in Kourtney's life. That included the 2015 end of her nine-year relationship with Scott Disick, with whom she co-parents three children, as well as the beginning of her romance with Barker in early 2021.

Kardashian and Barker have since married and share a young son named Rocky. On an earlier episode of the program, Barker also looked back on how their 15-year friendship evolved into a romantic relationship following a direct message from Kardashian.

"I’d left any thoughts of us ever being anything more," Barker recounted, as reported by Billboard. "I was like, 'What?' I had to look at my phone four times. I thought, 'There's no way!' … I was scared because I thought, 'I can't mess this up, I can't mess this up.'"

Billboard also noted that Ye's standing with the family experienced strain over time, particularly surrounding his relationship and co-parenting dynamic with Kim. In the biography Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, authored by Jonathan Van Meter, former Keeping Up With the Kardashians producer Farnaz Farjam described an untelevised dispute during Ye's 2020 presidential bid.

According to Farjam, Ye visited Caitlyn Jenner's residence alongside Kim and confronted Kris Jenner and the family regarding their election votes. Farjam recalled in the book that Ye questioned the family over not backing his campaign, describing an intense 30-minute confrontation that producers ultimately decided to edit out of the broadcast.
