Kim Kardashian and Ye Align on Managing North West's Budding Music Career
Kim Kardashian shared insights into co-parenting with Ye as their daughter North West pursues a high-profile music career. According to Kardashian, both parents prioritize staying aligned and approving North's artistic projects together.

Kim Kardashian and music executive Ye are finding common ground in co-parenting by focusing on the budding music career of their oldest daughter, North West. In a recent interview published by The Sunday Times on Oct. 4 and reported by Billboard, Kardashian offered a rare look into how the former couple manages their eldest child's artistic aspirations. Despite past differences in their co-parenting dynamics, Kardashian indicated that she and Ye maintain strong communication regarding North's entry into the entertainment industry.
According to Kardashian's statements in The Sunday Times, she and Ye make deliberate efforts to remain aligned on the creative ventures North pursues, ensuring that both parents give formal approval before projects move forward. Kardashian and Ye, who originally began dating in 2012 before marrying in Italy in 2014, share four children: North, 10-year-old Saint, 8-year-old Chicago, and 7-year-old Psalm. Kardashian filed for divorce in February 2021, with the legal proceedings concluding in a settlement in November 2022.
Among their four children, Kardashian noted that North shows the most intense drive for artistic and public-facing work. In her conversation with The Sunday Times, Kardashian admitted that she often tries to hold North back to protect her experience as a young person. Rather than allowing North to take on every single opportunity presented to her, Kardashian stated that she focuses on pacing the young artist's schedule so that her career is managed thoughtfully from the start.
North's early accomplishments in music have already gained national industry recognition. Named to Billboard's 2026 class of 21 Under 21, North released her debut EP, titled N0rth4evr, in May. She previously made chart history as one of the youngest artists ever to enter the Billboard Hot 100 when Talking, a track featuring Ye and Ty Dolla $ign, reached No. 30 on the chart. North was also featured on Ye and Ty Dolla $ign's 2024 album, Vultures.
In a summer interview with Billboard, North reflected on the public scrutiny that comes with her high-profile musical entrance. She explained that as a young artist, her main goal is to figure out her self-identity before external commentary dictates who she should be. North's live performance portfolio also includes a major landmark in August, when she headlined her first-ever show in Chicago with both Kardashian and Ye attending in support.
Though a scheduled joint tour with artist Molly Santana was canceled earlier this year, North continues to carve out her own path in music with direct oversight from her famous parents.
