Colin Kaepernick Says NFL Made Jay-Z the League's 'Black Face'
Colin Kaepernick claimed on a podcast that NFL owners approached him first to lead the league's social justice efforts before turning to Jay-Z after he declined. Kaepernick said the move was designed to end player protests.
Colin Kaepernick made new claims about the NFL's handling of player protests during an appearance on the MediasTouch podcast, according to Hip-Hop Wired. Kaepernick said league owners offered him a role leading the NFL's social justice initiatives while allegedly blackballing him from playing.
"They tried it first with the players' coalition. They tried it with me, directly, trying to offer me a major deal to lead their social justice initiatives while they're actively blackballing me," Kaepernick said. "To be clear, that was rejected."
Kaepernick alleged the league later turned to Jay-Z to fill that role.
