Former Washington basketball star John Wall is scheduled to return to the District of Columbia spotlight during Howard University’s Homecoming celebrations for a special live recording of the Club 520 podcast, according to reporting by HBCU Gameday. The live show will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the Howard Theatre. Doors are scheduled to open at 6 p.m., followed by the main show at 7 p.m.

Wall's appearance at Howard Homecoming comes following his appointment earlier this year as the president of basketball operations for Howard’s men’s basketball program. In April, the university named the five-time NBA All-Star to the executive role, where he works alongside head coach Kenneth Blakeney and general manager Daniel Marks. According to HBCU Gameday, Wall’s duties include evaluating athletic talent, constructing team rosters, and offering guidance and mentorship to student-athletes.

The live event brings Wall into conversation with former NBA champion Jeff Teague and co-hosts DJ Wells and B Hen. Club 520 has developed a strong reputation for raw, informal conversations that move fluidly between professional sports, music, long-standing friendships, and culture. The D.C. event offers the hosts an opportunity to reflect on Wall's ten years as the face of the Wizards franchise, as well as his transition into building an HBCU program.

In addition to the basketball discussion, the evening features a significant educational initiative aimed at empowering aspiring media professionals on campus. According to an event announcement cited by HBCU Gameday, Project 68 and Howard’s Cathy Hughes School of Communications are utilizing the live recording to launch the P68 Impact Hub x Howard University.

The new initiative aims to support student storytellers by offering paid opportunities for creative work. Furthermore, the program will connect Howard students with professional mentors, technical production assistance, and broader media industry channels to help develop their skills in real time.

“Opening it with Club 520 at the Howard Theatre during Homecoming is exactly the point: meet people where the culture already is,” stated Project 68 co-founder Darryl Banks in the release.

The taping adds another high-profile element to Howard’s annual Homecoming schedule, which spans Oct. 11 to Oct. 18 under the theme “I Am My Ancestor’s Wildest Dreams.” Since its founding in 1924, Howard Homecoming has expanded from a campus sports contest into a multi-day celebration of Black culture, media, and collegiate tradition.
