Ivanna Ortiz Indicted in Shooting Targeting Rihanna and A$AP Rocky's Residence
Los Angeles prosecutors unsealed an indictment against 36-year-old Ivanna Lisette Ortiz for a March shooting targeting the Beverly Crest home of music icons Rihanna and A$AP Rocky. Following psychiatric evaluations, a judge determined Ortiz competent to stand trial as she faces multiple felony charges.

A Florida woman accused of discharging an AR-15-style rifle at the Los Angeles-area home of music icon Rihanna and rapper A$AP Rocky has been cleared to stand trial following psychiatric evaluations, according to court details reported by Atlanta Black Star. On Sept. 30, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office released details regarding an unsealed June 18 indictment filed against 36-year-old Ivanna Lisette Ortiz. Authorities allege that Ortiz targeted the couple's Beverly Crest residence on March 8 while members of the household were present on the property.
Investigators recovered up to 20 rounds of ammunition at the scene and at a neighboring residence. Bullets struck the home's nursery—where the couple's three children, 4-year-old RZA, 3-year-old Riot, and 1-year-old Rocki, were located alongside other individuals—as well as an Airstream trailer occupied by Rihanna and A$AP Rocky. According to local reporting, no injuries were reported during the shooting. Following her arrest, Ortiz reportedly told law enforcement officials that she was not attempting murder.
However, the indictment charges the 36-year-old with one felony count of attempted murder, 10 felony counts of assault with an assault weapon, and three felony counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper. Ortiz entered a plea of not guilty to all charges. During a Sept. 29 court appearance, a judge determined that Ortiz was mentally fit to stand trial after she underwent a series of psychiatric evaluations, according to court reporting from AP News cited by Atlanta Black Star.
Ortiz appeared in court wearing yellow attire and handcuffs, where her bond was set at $2.65 million. A formal pretrial hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 29. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman addressed the severity of the offense in a public statement released by his office. Hochman stated that every person deserves to feel safe in and around their home, describing shooting at an occupied home as a serious and dangerous crime.
He noted that it was pure luck and not a matter of restraint that no one was injured or killed. In the wake of the incident, the family temporarily vacated the Los Angeles residence and was later seen in New York City and Barbados. Ortiz, who previously worked as a speech pathologist for over a decade, reportedly posted videos online prior to the incident making bizarre allegations against Rihanna. Court documents from April revealed that the father of Ortiz's young child was granted full custody pending the final resolution of the criminal trial. If convicted on all counts, Ortiz could face a potential sentence of life in prison.
