More Than 6,000 Pack Stands for HBCU Battle of the Bands at Savannah State
Nine HBCU marching bands performed for a crowd of more than 6,000 at Savannah State University's Theodore Wright Stadium for the 2026 HBCU Battle of the Bands. The five-hour showcase featured drumlines, dancers, flags and color guards from across the South.

The Current GA reported that bands including Virginia State, Fort Valley State and Winston-Salem State took the field in a showcase format rather than a head-to-head competition.
