Hampton University has announced the largest scholarship endowment in school history — a $50 million gift that will fund need-based aid for the next decade of Pirates.
The endowment is the result of a coordinated alumni campaign that brought together hundreds of donors across multiple generations. It will support thousands of students, dramatically reduce the financial barrier to a Hampton education, and serve as a model for what HBCU alumni can do when they organize at scale.
Hampton's president called it "a generational moment for the Home by the Sea." For students, it's a tangible difference in whether college is possible at all.
