Text Messages Surface in Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez Custody Battle
Private text messages between actress Halle Berry and her ex-husband Olivier Martinez have emerged as part of an ongoing legal dispute involving their 12-year-old son, Maceo. The court filing follows allegations made by Martinez regarding a September 26 incident, prompting a temporary modification of their custody agreement. Legal representatives for both parties have issued statements as the court prepares for an upcoming hearing on October 16.

Private text messages between Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry and her ex-husband, French actor Olivier Martinez, have surfaced in court filings during their ongoing custody dispute regarding their 12-year-old son, Maceo, according to reporting by The Shade Room. The revelation of the private communications comes as Martinez makes serious allegations against Berry following an alleged incident on September 26. The court filing detailed by The Shade Room contains a sequence of alleged text exchanges between the former spouses immediately following the September 26 incident.
According to the filed records, Martinez contacted Berry to ask if she was comfortable with Maceo being picked up early after the child reportedly asked to leave. Berry allegedly responded with frustration, indicating that she was not okay with the decision and raising concerns about how their son was treating her. In the alleged messages, Berry asked Martinez to address their son's behavior as a father, reiterating her position as his mother.
As the text exchange continued, Martinez reportedly claimed he was unaware of the full context of what occurred but alleged that Berry and Maceo frequently engage in arguments. Berry then responded by questioning whether Martinez should allow their son to stay at his home when conflict arises, arguing that Maceo showed a lack of respect for her authority. According to the filing reported by The Shade Room, Berry expressed feeling that her parental authority was being undermined, allegedly writing that she felt viewed as just 'money bags' rather than a respected parent.
In another text message allegedly sent the following day on September 27, Berry reached out to Martinez to request his assistance in opening communication with Maceo. She reportedly asked Martinez to encourage their son to speak with her, noting that while Martinez believes Maceo makes his own decisions, she would appreciate his help in facilitating a conversation. Berry also noted in the message that she felt terrible about the events of the prior evening.
Legal representatives for both individuals have publicly responded to the developments. Berry's attorney, Marina Beck, vehemently denied the claims outlined in the court filing, describing Martinez's submissions as entirely meritless and deliberately misleading. Conversely, Martinez's attorney, Patrick Baghdaserians, stated that his client's paramount concern is the health, welfare, and overall safety of Maceo, emphasizing that Martinez is focused on protecting the child. Following the allegations, a judge reportedly issued a temporary custody ruling that modifies the former couple's previous 50/50 joint custody arrangement, as reported by The Shade Room.
Under the temporary order, Martinez has been granted temporary custody of Maceo, while Berry has been granted daytime visitation twice during the week and every other weekend. The court order also requires Berry to remain at least 100 yards away from Martinez. The former couple is scheduled to appear back in court on October 16 for further legal proceedings.
