Claudia Jordan Recalls Keshia Knight Pulliam Red-Carpet Check Over 'Rudy' Remark
Claudia Jordan shared an uncomfortable past exchange with Keshia Knight Pulliam after introducing the actress as her famous childhood character on a red carpet. Pulliam swiftly corrected the host, making it clear she did not want to be addressed as Rudy Huxtable.

Media personality Claudia Jordan shared details about an uncomfortable red-carpet encounter with actress Keshia Knight Pulliam during an appearance on Baller Alert TV, according to reporting by Complex. Jordan explained that the incident took place when she was serving as a relatively new correspondent at the Soul Train Awards following the ceremony's reboot in Atlanta. Jordan acknowledged feeling uneasy about conducting celebrity interviews at the time, particularly over the risk of being embarrassed by a guest in an unpleasant mood, which led her to search for distinctive greetings as talent arrived.
According to Jordan's account reported by Complex, she attempted to welcome the former child star with an enthusiastic compliment. When Pulliam approached, Jordan announced, "Hey, we got all grown-up Rudy from The Cosby Show looking beautiful." Rather than accepting the nostalgic introduction, Pulliam immediately established a clear boundary regarding her personal identity. Jordan remembered that the actress quickly answered, "Uh, I'm not Rudy," making it evident that she had no desire to be addressed by her classic television role.
Jordan admitted that the direct response caught her completely off guard because she intended the phrasing as genuine praise. Although Jordan immediately apologized on the carpet by offering, "Oh, my bad. I meant it in a good way," she told the Baller Alert TV panel that she remained perplexed by the sharp pushback. Jordan recalled thinking to herself, "I mean, the biggest part of that show was huge. Like, why are you mad?" Still, Jordan noted that Pulliam did not allow the moment to slide, remarking that the actress "got me together" and issuing a playful caution to the panel to never address Pulliam as Rudy in everyday life.
To explain her perspective, Jordan drew a parallel to her own background as a former model on The Price Is Right. Jordan explained that while she has expanded her career into television hosting, acting, radio, and reality series, she does not harbor resentment toward fans who still identify her from that foundational television job, as documented by Complex.
Pulliam has established a multifaceted career that extends well past her early childhood fame. Beyond her iconic turn as Rudy Huxtable, Pulliam earned an undergraduate degree from Spelman College and assembled a substantial adult acting catalog, prominently starring as Miranda Lucas-Payne on Tyler Perry's House of Payne. Her professional achievements include winning two NAACP Image Awards, alongside ventures into television directing, producing, and business entrepreneurship.
Jordan emphasized that the red-carpet interaction did not spiral into an enduring rivalry like her well-publicized clashes with Porsha Williams from The Real Housewives of Atlanta. However, Jordan noted that when she and Pulliam later crossed paths on the competition program The Celebrity Apprentice, she opted not to offer assistance to Pulliam because her primary allegiance belonged to fellow contestant Vivica A. Fox, according to Complex.
