Prominent figures from across the entertainment world took to social media to celebrate as Democrats secured major victories in the 2026 midterm elections, according to reporting by Billboard. The election results established Democratic control over both the United States Senate and the House of Representatives, dealing a significant blow to the Republican party and leaving President Donald Trump to face the remaining two years of his term as a lame-duck commander-in-chief.

According to Billboard's review of the election tallies, the Democratic Party regained congressional majorities by reclaiming key districts and states across the country. In the Senate, Democrats gained control after flipping seats in Texas, Maine, Kansas, Iowa, Ohio, and both North and South Carolina. Furthermore, the party picked up two dozen House seats to flip the balance of power in the lower chamber.

Hollywood figures and recording artists responded swiftly as the outcome became apparent. Actress Mandy Moore monitored the returns closely on her Instagram Stories, writing, "Texas, this keeps getting better and better…" during the vote counts. Moore also specifically highlighted the work of voting rights activist, attorney, and political figure Stacey Abrams, identifying Abrams as "a hero" who "opened the door for tonight," according to Billboard.

Veteran actor Henry Winkler shared his perspective on social media platform X. When creator Joanne Carducci asked online followers how they were feeling, Winkler responded directly with, "Dreams do come true." Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel also targeted the political shift during his Jimmy Kimmel Live opening monologue. Kimmel directed jokes at Trump, JD Vance, and the broader MAGA leadership, saying, "It seems to be after all the talk about Nicki Minaj’s ass, Jon Husted’s ass, the only ass on Trump’s mind tonight is the one that just got handed to him," as reported by Billboard.

The celebrations followed extensive civic engagement campaigns organized by music industry icons prior to Election Day. Figures including Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nelson, Tinashe, and Olivia Rodrigo had pushed messages encouraging broad voter turnout. Billboard noted that Springsteen delivered an appeal directed toward election personnel, stating, "Our vote is our voice. And it’s up to you to ensure that our voice is heard."

Rodrigo combined turnout messaging with overt candidate support in the Ohio gubernatorial contest. During her Unraveled Tour stop in Columbus, the pop singer appeared in a shirt that read "Dr. Amy Acton for Governor" before posting an election montage encouraging fans to cast ballots. Democratic candidate Dr. Amy Acton ultimately secured victory in the race, defeating Republican tech mogul and former DOGE department co-leader Vivek Ramaswamy following a contentious campaign marked by attack s, Billboard reported. Additional actors voicing support online included Alyssa Milano, Molly Ringwald, and John Leguizamo, alongside late-night host Stephen Colbert.
