Media mogul Byron Allen, founder of Allen Media Group, will be formally recognized as a Gold Circle inductee during the 2026 Daytime Emmy Awards, according to reporting by theGrio and Variety. The prestigious honor, presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), acknowledges media professionals who have rendered exceptional leadership, sustained excellence, and structural innovation across their television careers. The Gold Circle designation specifically honors industry figures who have maintained a professional career in the television sector for 50 or more years.

In addition to Allen, the 2026 Gold Circle inductees include television host and executive producer Meredith Vieira, veteran performer Patrika Darbo, and accomplished actor, director, and executive producer Francesca James. The Academy also revealed its 2026 Silver Circle class, a distinction reserved for media professionals with 25 or more years of service in the industry. This year's Silver Circle honorees include Stephen Brown, executive vice president of programming and development at Fox Television Stations, and long-time announcer and warm-up host Rubin Ervin.

According to a statement from NATAS President and CEO Adam Sharp provided to Variety, the organization takes great pride in celebrating an honoree class representing varied professional trajectories across daytime programming. Sharp noted that the group's ongoing contributions continue to shape daytime television genres while inspiring future generations and enriching the lives of viewers on a daily basis. According to official criteria posted on the NATAS website, candidates for both the Gold and Silver Circle honors are evaluated by a specialized selection committee.

The committee assesses applicants based on their documented service to television or allied media industries, their civic engagement and community contributions using television, and their mentorship or support for people entering or building careers in media. The upcoming honor adds to a significant period of industry accolades for Allen. The executive was recently named to EBONY magazine’s 2026 Power 100 list within the Junior Bridgeman Business Vanguard category. That designation honors leaders and entrepreneurs who are actively redefining what is possible in modern commerce, featuring fellow honorees such as Sam’s Club U.S.

President and CEO Latriece Watkins, Cherryrock Capital Founder and Managing Partner Stacy Brown-Philpot, and Calendly Founder and CEO Tope Awotona. The 2026 Gold and Silver Circle inductees follow last year's celebrated class. In 2025, NATAS inducted Star Jones, Judy Blye Wilson, Kate Linder, James Reynolds, and Greg Barna into the Silver Circle, while actress Jane Elliot was inducted into the Gold Circle. The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, Oct. 30, at the Hollywood Palladium.

The event will be broadcast live for audiences online via the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences official YouTube channel.
