Former Danity Kane member Aubrey O’Day has publicly criticized the living conditions of Sean “Diddy” Combs while he serves a federal prison sentence, raising concerns over whether his incarceration is achieving meaningful rehabilitation, according to a report published by Billboard.

O’Day’s comments came in response to an investigative report by NBC News journalist Chloe Melas, who published findings regarding the conditions surrounding Combs at the Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix in New Jersey. Melas shared video footage on social media platform X that allegedly depicts Combs using a mobile phone inside the low-security federal facility, Billboard reported.

Quote-tweeting the investigation, O’Day thanked Melas for bringing the details to light and offered a sharp critique of the federal correctional system. O’Day stated that observers should understand the difference between genuine rehabilitation and what she described as a comfortable stay behind bars. She further argued that the prison system is broken and expressed worry that Combs will ultimately leave prison in a worse state than when he entered, according to Billboard.

The underlying investigation by NBC News gathered testimony from four men who previously shared a housing unit with Combs at Fort Dix. According to those sources, Combs received special treatment from fellow incarcerated individuals, who allegedly handled his daily chores, including cooking, laundry, and cleaning, as well as providing him with massages.

Additionally, NBC News reported examining photographs and videos suggesting that Combs had access to prohibited items while incarcerated, including a contraband mobile device and alcohol within the facility, as noted in the Billboard summary.

A spokesperson for Combs pushed back against the news report, describing the media focus on his daily prison routines as excessive. The representative maintained that the only relevant news is that Combs is actively serving his required sentence while his legal team continues to pursue an appeal of his convictions.

A representative from the Federal Bureau of Prisons declined to comment directly on the specific living conditions or allegations concerning Combs. However, the agency acknowledged that managing contraband within federal facilities remains a persistent challenge nationwide.

Combs began serving his 50-month sentence at Fort Dix in October 2025 following his conviction on two federal charges of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. He was acquitted of

O’Day originally rose to fame under Combs’ mentorship as part of the R&B girl group Danity Kane, which was formed on the MTV reality television program Making the Band. She has remained an outspoken figure regarding Combs throughout his high-profile legal proceedings, according to Billboard.
