A$AP Rocky Eyes First Career Grammy Win With Latest Album Campaign
Harlem recording artist A$AP Rocky has launched an extensive awards campaign for his latest project, 'Don't Be Dumb,' as voting begins for the upcoming Grammy Awards. The musician revealed that securing his first win served as an intentional target throughout the creation of the record.

Harlem artist A$AP Rocky is making a direct bid for Recording Academy recognition following the release of his long-awaited project, Don't Be Dumb. The rapper shared that capturing his first Grammy Award served as an intentional driving force behind the album, which ended an eight-year gap between major solo releases, according to reporting by AllHipHop.
Speaking in an interview with Billboard that was cited by AllHipHop, the creative explained that he deliberately tailored the project with music industry honors in mind. Rocky explained that taking home a trophy would validate the extensive creative labor invested into the record. "I think it would solidify everything that I worked hard for," Rocky stated during the conversation. "I worked so hard on this, and I intentionally wanted to win one."
Rocky noted that music took central priority over his ongoing creative ventures across fashion, filmmaking, and directing over the past year. Following its January rollout, Don't Be Dumb achieved the No. 1 position on the charts. Alongside the commercial reception, the Harlem native highlighted his live arena performances as key components bolstering his artistic consideration, AllHipHop reported.
The project's award submissions demonstrate a cross-genre approach rather than remaining restricted to traditional rap categories. The single "Punk Rocky" was submitted for Record of the Year, Best Music Video, and Best Alternative Music Performance. In addition to the single submissions, Don't Be Dumb was entered into consideration for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album.
A victory would mark a milestone in Rocky's career, which currently features three Grammy nominations and zero wins, according to data from the Recording Academy referenced by AllHipHop. His first nomination arrived in 2014 for Best Rap Song for "F***in' Problems," followed by Best Music Video nominations for "L$D" in 2016 and "Tailor Swif" in 2025.
Visual artistry continues to play a significant role in his award consideration. Two of his previous three nominations stemmed from his music videos, and the visual for "Punk Rocky" follows that standard. The clip features actress Winona Ryder and was co-directed by Rocky alongside visual directors Folkert Verdoorn and Simon Becks, placing his behind-the-camera direction in the mix for visual honors.
The broader campaign also includes five scheduled December arena performances across Australia and New Zealand, which promoters have identified as his first return to the region in eight years. The first round of Grammy voting opened on October 12 and concludes on October 22, with certified music creators, songwriters, producers, and audio engineers casting the ballots. Nominees are scheduled to be officially revealed on November 16, with final voting running from December 10 through January 7 ahead of the February 7, 2027 ceremony.
