Anthony Edwards Brand Campaign Fires Back at Drake in Continuing Sneaker Rivalry
NBA star Anthony Edwards has answered back once again to a previous Nike promotional clip featuring Kevin Durant and Drake. In a fresh for his signature shoe line, comedian Hasan Minhaj delivers targeted quips referencing Toronto, lawsuits, and brand competition.

The ongoing promotional clash involving NBA standout Anthony Edwards, veteran star Kevin Durant, and music figure Drake has produced another high-profile chapter, according to reporting by Billboard.
In a newly released commercial centered on the adidas AE 3 footwear release, comedian and actor Hasan Minhaj takes center stage as an on-screen persona billed as the official Anthony Edwards insider. During the sequence, Minhaj directs pointed commentary toward the Toronto rapper, serving as Edwards' latest retort to a promotional campaign issued earlier this year by Nike and Durant.
Billboard reported that Minhaj begins his segment by trading lighthearted quips before directing jabs toward NBA icon LeBron James and Nike's financial performance. He then turns his focus to Drake, delivering a direct line to the camera: “Oh, and meanwhile, somewhere in Toronto, a certain bandwagon fan is facing FOMO and buried in lawsuits. Really sorry about that!”
This release marks the second time Edwards has integrated responses to Durant and Drake into his commercial appearances. The exchanges stem back to June, when Nike unveiled a spot showcasing a purple edition of Durant's signature KD 19 sneakers. In that commercial, Drake appeared alongside the footwear inside a crate delivered to Durant, using the occasion to poke fun at Edwards' signature shoe line. Drake remarked during the spot that only four children in Minnesota had asked for purple sneakers from Edwards, declaring that audiences preferred Durant's line instead.
Edwards initially answered the slight through an earlier spot produced for PrizePicks, according to Billboard. In that production, Edwards mirrored the delivery premise by having a wooden crate stamped with the phrase “FRAGILE: RETURN TO TORONTO” transferred between associates while an individual trapped inside called out for Durant.
During that previous spoof, one of Edwards' associates quoted lyrics associated with Kendrick Lamar, stating that the figure had to travel to Atlanta to capture style and swagger. The skit concluded with Edwards' team showcasing shoes to a gathering while mocking the suggestion that only four people in Minnesota desired his merchandise.
With this latest adidas promotional spot utilizing Minhaj's dialogue, Edwards continues to use commercial storytelling to maintain his competitive stance against rival signature athlete endorsements. Billboard noted that observers remain watchful over whether the musical artist will issue any lyrical response in future releases.
