Amazon Recalls Over 112,000 Acetaminophen Bottles Due to Discolored Caplets
Amazon and manufacturer Aurobindo Pharma USA Inc. have voluntarily recalled over 112,000 bottles of extra strength acetaminophen caplets sold online. The nationwide recall was initiated after consumers reported visible discoloration on tablets, according to regulatory filings cited by Baller Alert.

A nationwide voluntary recall is underway for more than 112,000 bottles of Amazon Basic Care extra strength acetaminophen caplets after consumers reported finding discolored tablets inside their medication containers, according to reporting by Baller Alert. The recall affects 112,932 bottles of 500 mg strength pain relief caplets distributed online across the United States.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration published the recall details in its October enforcement report following an initial voluntary action launched on September 18, 2026, by manufacturer Aurobindo Pharma USA Inc. An Amazon spokesperson confirmed to Nexstar, as reported by Baller Alert, that the online retailer voluntarily recalled specific lots of Amazon Basic Care Extra Strength Pain Relief acetaminophen 500 mg caplets in direct coordination with manufacturer Aurohealth and federal regulatory officials.
According to details released by federal authorities and reported by Baller Alert, the recall spans three bottle sizes across multiple specific lot numbers. Affected inventory includes 14,640 bottles containing 200 caplets under lot number ACD125040A with an expiration date of September 30, 2027. A larger batch of 90,456 bottles containing 500 caplets includes lot numbers ACD124036A and ACD124030A expiring September 30, 2027; lot ACD124042A expiring October 31, 2027; lot ACD124048B expiring November 30, 2027; and lot ACD125010A expiring February 29, 2028. Additionally, 7,836 bottles of 1,000 caplets under lot number ACD124048A with a November 30, 2027 expiration date are subject to the recall.
While regulators have not publicly identified the root cause of the discoloration or assigned a formal health risk classification to the batch as of October 13, 2026, medical guidance from MedlinePlus highlights that changes in pill appearance, texture, or odor often signal product degradation due to environmental exposure like heat, air, or moisture. The National Library of Medicine notes that the standard appearance of the Amazon Basic Care 500 mg formulation is white to off-white, making visible stains or unexpected surface color shifts a clear departure from established product standards.
Baller Alert reported that this is not the first instance of color-
No adverse medical events or dangerous chemical contaminants have been reported in connection with the current discolored batches. However, health guidance cited by Baller Alert urges consumers to check their medicine cabinets immediately, refrain from using affected lot numbers, and follow recall notifications from Amazon for returns or consult healthcare professionals for safe replacement options.
