In an evaluation published by Black Press USA, automotive reviewer Roosevelt Gist of AutoNetwork put the 2026 Defender 130 X through its paces to assess whether the luxury SUV delivers genuine value for family buyers at its listed price of $110,110. Finished in a Gondwana Stone exterior with an Ebony Windsor leather interior, the vehicle presents a high-end aesthetic alongside heavy-duty capability features. Under the hood, the Defender 130 X is equipped with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder mild-hybrid engine that produces 395 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque.

Power is delivered through an eight-speed automatic transmission paired with an all-wheel-drive system. In his driving assessments, Gist reported positive acceleration, a comfortable and supportive driver seat, and solid overall ride quality. However, he also observed noticeable wind noise around the windshield pillar and outside mirror, recommending that potential buyers include a highway test drive on their shopping checklist to evaluate cabin noise levels personally. Inside the cabin, space management presents both advantages and practical limitations for families.

The model evaluated by Gist included optional second-row captain chairs alongside third-row passenger seating. Gist noted that the third row does not fold into a flat floor, which could impact cargo utility. He advised shoppers to bring strollers, luggage, or measuring tape to the dealership to ensure the cargo space aligns with their household requirements. Additionally, the vehicle high stance makes entry and exit notable, with Gist pointing out that built-in grab handles might not eliminate entry challenges for every passenger.

On the technology and feature front, the 130 X includes a 13.1-inch touchscreen display, a parking-camera system, and a ClearSight digital rearview mirror. Gist cautioned that extended use of the digital rearview mirror induced a feeling of dizziness during his test, noting that individual driver experiences with digital mirrors may vary. The vehicle also comes outfitted with air suspension, specialized terrain settings, and a listed towing package. Ownership costs remain a critical component of the overall purchasing decision.

According to supplied fuel economy ratings cited in the review, the Defender 130 X achieves 16 miles per gallon in the city, 20 mpg on the highway, and 18 mpg combined. Gist emphasized that prospective buyers should weigh these fuel ratings and long-term operating expenses when deciding whether this high-end SUV fits their daily budget and lifestyle.
